Bertin NIYIGABA is a former Intellectual Property Law Enforcement Officer in the Office of the Registrar General (IP Office) at Rwanda Development Board. His main mandate was to handle issues/cases arising from Intellectual Property Right including but not limited to “Oppositions for the registration of IP assets and Disputes.” Apart from his main mandate, he was responsible for Drafting of IP Legal Opinions and Case Decision Reports; Providing the legal advices to the IP Office Team and Trademark Search Examination and Formalities Examination of New Applications. He joined Attorneys House as an Associate Legal Officer in July 2020 after leaving his full time employment at RDB. Being in this position qualifies him to understand the context of Rwandan Intellectual Property System. He holds a bachelor’s degree of Law (LLB) from School of Law at the University of Rwanda. He is a native speaker of Kinyarwanda and has excellent command of English and a working knowledge French.
